Volleyball readies for Queens Fall Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team travels to Charlotte, N.C., on Friday to compete in the Queens Fall Classic, hosted by Queens University. The Bulldogs open the weekend on Friday at 5:15 p.m. against The Citadel. Asheville continues the weekend on Saturday at noon against Marshall before facing South Carolina State at 4:30 p.m. to wrap up the tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs are looking to bounce back after falling to Western Carolina University on Tuesday in a 3-0 decision. Asheville enters this weekend's tournament 3-4.
BULLDOG STAT LEADERS
Baylor Herlehy remains No. 1 in the Big South Conference for blocks with a total of 32 blocks in 25 sets (1.28 avg/s). Matilde Teixeira enters this weekend at No. 10 in the Big South with 62 kills, and Ona Elkins is currently in the Big South top 10 in service aces at No. 7 (eight in 23 sets) and assists at No. 8 (3.96 avg/s). As a team, the Bulldogs are No. 2 in the conference in blocks (2.24 avg/s) and service aces (1.60 avg/s).
A LOOK AT ASHEVILLE'S OPPONENTS
Citadel– Asheville holds a 7-0 record against the Bulldogs, with their last matchup being on Sept. 8, 2018. The Bulldogs are 6-0 on the season so far. The Citadel's player to watch is Ali Ruffin who has 116 kills and 69 digs.
Marshall– This will be the two teams' first matchup since 1991. The Herd comes into the tournament 3-5. Marshall's player to watch is Brynn Brown who leads the team in kills (63) and assists (205), and has 55 digs.
South Carolina State– Asheville holds an 8-0 record against the Bulldogs with their last matchup being on Sept. 3, 2022. The Bulldogs enter the tournament looking for their first win of the season as they are 0-7. The Bulldogs' player to watch is Kaia Barnett who leads the team in assists (110), aces (four), and has 15 kills and 40 digs.
