Shae Hassig Named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's soccer sophomore defender Shae Hassig has been named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Tuesday, Sept. 5).
Hassig helped Asheville to two victories last week, as the Bulldogs are out to their best start since 2015 at 4-1. Asheville picked up its third consecutive shutout in a 1-0 win over Wofford on Thursday (Aug. 31), before Hassig's first career goal served as the match-winner in a 2-1 effort over Furman on Sunday (Sept. 3).
This is Hassig's first career Defensive Player of the Week honor. The Fuquay-Varina, N.C. native is a neuroscience major.
The Bulldogs (4-1-0) return to the pitch on Thursday (Sept. 7) to host The Citadel for National Beer Lover's Day. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
