Cross Country Opens 2023 Season Friday in Georgia

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville cross country teams will open their 2023 seasons on Friday when they make their way to Georgia to compete in the Young Harris Invitational. The men's race will kick things off at 5 p.m. with the women's race to follow.
Preseason Predictions – Asheville's cross country squads were picked to finish in the upper half of the Big South this fall. The men's team was projected to place third, while the women's team was tabbed for a fourth-place finish in the annual preseason coaches' polls. It marks the first season that both the men's and women's teams were picked among the top four Big South finishers since 2019.
About the Bulldogs – The men's team will look to maintain its string of consistent performances in 2023. Asheville and Charleston Southern are the only two cross country programs on the men's side that have finished fourth or better in every year since 2017. A key returner for the Bulldogs this fall will be Adam Hessler, who is a two-time All-Big South honoree during his time in Asheville.
The women's team, meanwhile, will return six runners from last season's team and will welcome in seven newcomers to the team in 2023.
