Amber Capote, Madyson Gold Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville women's golf juniors Amber Capote and Madyson Gold have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors, announced today (Tuesday, May 23).

To receive Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, have been at their institution for at least one calendar year if a transfer, played in at least 50 percent of their team's contests and maintain at least a cumulative 3.50 grade point average.

Capote appeared in six tournaments and 15 rounds as a junior, putting together a stroke average of 81.71 on the season. Capote holds a 3.54 grade point average in management.

This is Capote's first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Waxhaw, N.C.

Gold appeared in 11 tournaments and 31 rounds as a junior, recording six top-20 finishes including four top-five finishes. She finished third at the Jupiter Women's Invitational with a +4 214, tying a program record for low round with a 67 (-3) in round three. She also finished tied for second at the Terrier Intercollegiate with a +2 218. Gold won Asheville's first-ever individual tournament title with a +4 148 at the Low Country Intercollegiate, later earning Golfer of the Week honors. Gold would go on to set the school record for birdies in a single-season (75), single-season scoring average (75.16), single-season par or better rounds (five), single-season finish percentage (76.7%), single-season counting scores (96.6%), single-season par four scoring (4.2405), single-season par five scoring (5.7906), career scoring average (76.49), career par or better rounds (six) and career birdies (143). She was also named a Second Team All-Conference selection this season. She holds a 3.53 grade point average in mass communication, with a double minor in new media and psychology.

This is Gold's first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
