Bulldogs Extend Win Streak to Three with Shutout Victory over Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. - UNC Asheville men's tennis extended its win streak to three matches with a 7-0 shutout over Longwood on Sunday (Apr. 2). This is the first three-match winning streak for the Bulldogs since they won four straight to open the Spring 2022 season.Â
The Bulldogs took two of three matches in doubles play for the doubles point, before sweeping singles play.
Jon Brann Reid and Rafa Serra beat Guillermo Cagigas and Timeo Puech 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, before Sam Nicholson and Chester Wickwire beat Alejandro Uribe and Ernest Rocabert 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. Reid would go on to beat Cagigas 6-2, 4-0 at No. 1 singles, before Nicholson went on to beat Puech 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Harry Thursfield would beat Rocabert 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3, before Bruno Serra would beat Uribe 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Wickwire would grind out a 6-3, 6-7 (0-2), 10-8 win over Luis Reis at No. 5, before Freddy Murray polished off the shutout with a 6-0, 5-7, 10-3 win over Lukas Krause at No. 6.
