Last Time Out: The track and field team is fresh off a strong start to their outdoor season, competing at the 49er Classic last weekend. Asheville had four first place winners at the meet hosted by UNC Charlotte, with multiple new top-five performances in the program record books, and a new women's outdoor shot put record set by Raina Jackson.

Terrific Throwing: The two Asheville record holders for the shot put, Raina Jackson and Solomon McDonald, have been having an outstanding year and had a terrific start to the outdoor season. Jackson, who holds the women's indoor and outdoor shot put records, broke her own outdoor shot put record twice at the 49er Classic. Her first throw of 13.96-meters put her in second place, breaking the school record, followed by her winning throw of 14.06-meters shattered the record again to put her in the top spot for the victory.

McDonald also holds both outdoor and indoor records in the shot put, took first place at the 49er Classic with a throw of 17.62-meters. This school year, McDonald has taken first place victories in the shot put in five of the six meets he has competed in, placing second in the one meet he did not win.

Bulldog Bests: The Bulldogs started the outdoor season with a string of personal bests. Madeline Wittschen and Quinn Jacquez both finished first in the 5000-meter open heat with personal best times at the 49er Classic, with Jacquez taking off over 33 seconds from his previous personal best. Zac Weas also improved his 110-meter hurdle time to 14.39, placing him second in the Asheville record books. Alex Haines (1500-meter), Ava Nkadi (1500-meter), Ashlynn Brown (100m Hurdles), Brianna Moore (Javelin), Isaac Teasley (200-meter), Adam Graham (400-meter), Walker Lezotte (1500-meter), and Andrew Okon (3000-meter) all achieved personal bests at the 49er Classic.

About the Raleigh Relays: Four of Asheville's best will be headed to NC State for the Raleigh Relays. Adam Hessler (5000-meter), Alex Haines (1500-meter), Solomon McDonald (Shot Put), and Raina Jackson (Shot Put) will travel on Thursday to compete in their respective events.
