Delaney Carlton Readies for NCAA Division I National Championships

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville senior Delaney Carlton is set to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships on Thursday (Mar. 16). The championships will take place at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.

About Delaney Carlton - Carlton became the program's first-ever national qualifier, holding the current school record in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Carlton is seeded No. 34 at the national championships. Of the 322 participants at the championships, Carlton is one of 22 mid-major swimmers to be selected to the championships. Her 50-yard freestyle time of 22.07 is the best in the nation amongst mid-major swimmers in the event, and she also won the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) conference championship in the event. On top of her performances in the pool, Carlton has been equally successful out of it. She was named the 2022 CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, to the 2022 CSCAA Second Team Scholar All-America Team, and recently was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
