Last Time Out – UNC Asheville fell in its last game on the road at USC Upstate on Saturday by a score of 76-70. With the loss, the Bulldogs move to 18-7 overall and 10-2 in Big South play.
More Milestones for Bulldogs – A couple Bulldogs will more than likely attain some significant milestones on Wednesday. When Tajion Jones takes the floor on Wednesday, it'll be his 140th game played in his career, which will be a new Big South record. Furthermore, Drew Pember needs to score just two more points to become the 38th Bulldog in program history to score 1,000 points in a Bulldog uniform.
Home is where the wins are – Asheville currently boasts an undefeated 10-0 record at Kimmel Arena this season. The last time the Bulldogs won 10 or more games to start a home schedule was in 2017-18 when they reeled off 12 straight wins.
Bulldogs aiming for a bounce back – The Bulldogs have been able to avoid any lengthy losing skids this season on their way to a 18-7 record. Asheville has dropped back-to-back games just once this season and that was in late November when it fell to Eastern Kentucky and Georgia State on the final two days of the Capitol Classic.
About Winthrop – Winthrop enters Wednesday's matchup with the Bulldogs sporting a 11-14 overall record that includes a 6-6 mark in Big South play. The Eagles have fared well lately winning three of their last four games. A player to watch for Winthrop is Kelton Talford. Talford enters Wednesday's matchup in Kimmel Arena ranking sixth in the country in field goal percentage (67.1 percent).
Series Rewind vs. Winthrop - The rivalry between Asheville and Winthrop began in the mid-1980s and consists of over 80 matchups over the years. Winthrop, which holds the edge in the all-time series, 47-37, knocked off Asheville by a score of 62-60 earlier this season. The Eagles have won seven of the last eight meetings between these two programs with Asheville's lone win in that stretch coming on January 29, 2021 when it defeated the Eagles, 57-55, to end the latter's 16 game winning streak.
