KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team continued its stellar week at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships on Thursday. Overall, several Bulldogs set new lifetime best times, which included four school records and one podium finish.

At the conclusion of day two of the Championships, the Bulldogs sit in fifth place with 432 points. Asheville sits just 10 points out of fourth place where Florida Gulf Coast sits with 442 points. James Madision currently sits at the top of the leaderboard with 712.5 points followed by Liberty (678 points) and Queens (572 points).

"Usually our team spirit is amazing but today the energy was on a different level," said sophomore Riley Edmundson afterward. "We all put in so much work every single day and seeing it pay off is incredible. I love this team and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the next couple of days."

Morning Session Recap – Asheville started Thursday off well with nine season-best and a trio of lifetime best outings. The Bulldogs also saw a pair of swimmers in Edmundson (400 IM) and Anna Marcotti (200 Free) advance to the evening's 'A' finals.

Marcotti's outing in the 200-yard freestyle was particularly impressive as she broke the school and freshman records clocking in at 1:48.99 in the morning session.

In the 3-meter diving competition, a pair of Bulldogs tallied personal-bests. Morgan Coughlen led all Bulldog divers with a point total of 225.35, which was her new personal-best for the event.
Freshman Kindal Culpepper also established a new personal best with a point total of 201 points.

Evening Session Recap – Asheville recorded three more school records during the evening session. The 400-yard medley relay team of Nora Segurola, Mikaela Fullerton, Chloe McDonald and Delaney Carlton broke the school record with a time of 3:41.01, which was good enough for a third-place finish.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Carlton, Abby Parks, Jessie Frank, and Segurola also shattered the school record with a time of 1:31.03 and placed fourth in the field.

Finally, Edmundson finished fifth in the 400-yard individual medley with a record-breaking time of 4:22.85.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday for day three of the CCSA Championships. The prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals to follow at 6 p.m. Both of these sessions can be seen on the Big South Sports Network.
