Baseball opens its 2023 season this weekend vs. Sacred Heart

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team will open the 2023 season this weekend with a three-game series against Sacred Heart. The first two games on Friday and Saturday will be played at the Big League Camp facility in Marion, N.C., while Sunday's series finale will be played at Greenwood Field. All three games have a first pitch time of Noon.
Promotions – Thanks to the partnership with Ingles, admission to all UNC Asheville home games will be free this season.
Quick Look Back at 2022 – Asheville finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 21-29-1, which included a 14-9-1 mark in Big South play. The 14-9-1 record in league games ranked third in the conference, which matched Asheville's best finish in program history.
Preseason Predictions – Coming off one of its most successful seasons in recent years, the Bulldogs were predicted to finish fifth in the annual Big South Preseason Poll. It marks the highest preseason prediction for the Bulldogs since 2007 when they were projected to finish third.

About Sacred Heart – The Pioneers posted a record of 12-41 overall last season. A player to watch for Sacred Heart is Justin Jordan. Jordan was the Pioneers' leading hitter last spring with a .351 batting average in 47 games. Furthermore, Sacred Heart will be led by first-year Head Coach Pat Egan, who comes over from Quinnipiac where he served as the Bobcats' pitching coach.
