Bulldogs finish season at NCAA Southeast Regional Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the biggest race of the season, the UNC Asheville cross country team made the short journey to Spartanburg, S.C., on Friday for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs finished in 18th place with 520 points, and the women finished in 31st place with 852 points.
The Bulldogs produced seven All-Time best performances across both programs. Adam Hessler finished in 51st place with a personal best time of 30:20.6. Hessler resets the 10k program record with Friday's finish after setting the record at last year's Regional Championship. Finishing in 85th with a personal best of 31:05.8 was Daniel Hopkins, who now holds the second-fastest 10k time in program history. across 10k, and who finished in 85th. In his 10k debut, Jan Málek matched the freshman record of 31:30 to finish in 110th, which also puts him fourth on the All-Time list. Senior Alex Haines, in his first collegiate 10k, finished in 138th with a time of 32:06.2, and sophomore Quinn Jacquez finished in 32:15.3 (144th).
On the women's side, Richardson finished in 21:53.1 and in 111th place and Moore finished in 23:00.8 (170th).
There were additional personal bests on both teams from junior Andrew Okon, who took 154th with a time of 32:34.4. The women's team massively built on their performances from last year to achieve seven out of seven personal bests, with sophomore Sophie Lundin finishing in 188th with a PR of 23:17.2, Emma Kennett (196th - 23:31.3), Alyx Beausoleil (220th - 24:43.2) and Emily Leo (234 - 25:24.0).
