Women's Golf Completes Round One, Round Two Suspended at the UNCG Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Golf completed one round at the UNCG Collegiate on Monday (Oct. 9), before the second round was suspended at the Grandover Resort.
Asheville shot +30 in the first round, paced by a +3 75 from Phoebe Carles and a 79 (+7) from Madyson Gold. Beryl Giletti posted an 81 (+9) in the first round, while Presley Pickron turned in an 83 (+11) in the first round, while Hailey Pendleton also posted an 86 (+14). Carles leads Asheville through one full round and part of round two in a tie for 10th.
Carles made par on No. 1, before making birdie on No. 2 and bogey on No. 3. She would make par on the next three holes, before making double bogey on No. 7, a birdie on No. 8 and a par on No. 9 to round out the front. She began the back nine with two straight pars, before making a bogey on No. 12 and a par on No. 13. After a bogey on No. 14, she finished her round with four straight pars.
Gold made pars on No. 1 and No. 2, before making bogey on No. 3 and pars on No. 4 and No. 5. Gold finished the front nine with a bogey on No. 6, a par on No. 7 and back-to-back bogeys on No. 8 and No. 9. She began the back with a bogey on No. 10, before making par on No. 11 and a bogey on No. 12. After a par on No. 13, Gold made birdie on No. 14 and a par on No. 15 before finishing her round with a double bogey on No. 16 and pars on No. 17 and No. 18.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 10) for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start to finish round two and play the final round, with live results available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
