Bulldogs Pick Up Clean Sheet, Three Crucial Points in Rout of Winthrop

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Soccer picked up a clean sheet and three crucial standings points in its Big South Conference rout over Winthrop by a score of 4-0.
Asheville got the scoring started in the sixth minute, when Azalea Mihailovich pulled an Olympico and bent a corner kick into the back of the net for her first of the season. Asheville would keep the pressure on in the offensive half throughout the period, before striking again just minutes before the break. Daysha Chaney would score her fourth of the season in the 43rd minute, stashing home a ball that was fed into the box by Jasmine Barry and played through by Nao Kawasaki. Asheville would carry its 2-0 lead to the break.
Kaiya Boyd would score unassisted in the 64th minute for her fourth of the season to extend Asheville's lead, before roughly 90 seconds later Kawasaki would bring the match to its final score with her fifth of the season off an assist from Barry.
Asheville out-shot Winthrop 23-1 in the contest, including 11-0 in shots on frame. Asheville also out-worked Winthrop for corner kicks 10-2 in the match. Asheville was paced by five shots from Boyd, along with four from Chaney and three from Barrett Eidson. Mihailovich and Sina Anger each had two shots in the contest, while Taylor Gardner, Addie Cooper, Julia Hüsch, Ashley Macfarlane, Ava Bjorkman-Tracy, Jordan Schaetzly and Kawasaki each had one shot in the match. Gracie Murray (5-4-3) picked up the fourth shutout of the season and of her career, doing so without making a save between the pipes.
