Last Time Out – Asheville rallied from an 18-point second half deficit to knock off Campbell last Saturday at Kimmel Arena, 58-55. With Saturday's win, the Bulldogs are now 11-6 overall and 3-1 in Big South play.
Back on ESPNU – Thursday's game will mark the 14th appearance for the Bulldogs in the Big South's ESPNU Wildcard Series. Asheville's most recent appearance was on January 27, 2022 when it faced off against Gardner-Webb at Kimmel Arena.
Getting Defensive – Through four games in Big South play, the Bulldogs are allowing just 61.8 points per game. Only Radford (59.2 PPG) has averaged fewer points allowed through the first four games of league play this season.
Confidence in Kimmel – Thanks to its win over Campbell on Saturday, Asheville improved to 6-0 at Kimmel Arena in 2022-23. The Bulldogs, who have won eight of their last nine home games dating back to last season, and USC Upstate are the only Big South teams to not drop a game on their home floor yet this season. Furthermore, the 6-0 start marks Asheville's best record to begin a home schedule since the 2017-18 Bulldogs when they began their home schedule 12-0.
About Longwood – Longwood, who was projected to repeat as Big South Champions before the season began, will bring a 12-5 record overall and an unblemished 4-0 mark in Big South play into Thursday's game with the Bulldogs. A player to watch for the Lancers is Isaiah Wilkins as he currently leads the team in scoring averaging 13.3 points per game.
Series Rewind vs. Longwood – Asheville holds the edge in the all-time series against the Lancers winning 15 of the 20 all-time matchups. However, the Lancers have won the last three meetings between these two programs including a 56-48 win over the Bulldogs last February at Kimmel Arena.
