ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday when they compete at the Live in Lou Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. Saturday's races will be hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. The men's team will race at 9:30 a.m., while the women will compete in their 5K race at 11:30 a.m.
Last Time Out – The Bulldogs were last in action on September 17 at the Winthrop Invitational. Asheville had a pair of successful races. The men's team won its race, outlasting The Citadel, Winthrop, and Gardner-Webb, while the women's squad finished behind only South Carolina on the day.
Big South Co-Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week – For his efforts at the Winthrop Invitational, John Ciprich was named the Big South's Co-Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Ciprich paced the 40-runner field at Winthrop with a time of 25:19.1.
A Win at Winthrop – With the men's team winning its race at Winthrop, it marked the first team win for the Bulldogs since September 21, 2018 when it took the top spot at the Asheville Invitational.
Note from Coach - "I'm excited to see our teams get to compete against some of the best teams in the country," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Adam Puett. "The Live in Lou Classic is one of the largest meets in the country every year. We have spent the last six weeks together working very hard and now we are going to have great weather and a fast course, so it will be exciting to see the performances we are going to get out of our team."
