Women’s Basketball adds Jamaya Blanks to recruiting class

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Women's Basketball Coach Honey Brown announced Friday the addition of transfer Jamaya Blanks (Greensboro, N.C.) to her team's recruiting class. Blanks comes to Asheville after spending the past three seasons at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
"It's exciting to sign Jamaya after recruiting her several years ago," Brown said. "She came to our camp and we watched her develop over time but our recruiting went another direction. She played for a nationally-known high school program that competed for titles. Jamaya knows how to win and knows the work it takes. I love Jamaya's versatility and her mindset to do whatever the team needs. She can shoot the three and attack off the dribble which fits well into our offense. I also know Jamaya takes pride in her defense and with her length I expect her to help us extend the court. It's great to get a very good North Carolina player back to the state and playing for the Bulldogs!"
As mentioned earlier, Blanks spent the last three seasons at Maryland Eastern Shore. During her time with the Hawks, she played in 40 games that included three appearances in the starting lineup. Blanks scored 89 points, grabbed 64 rebounds, totaled 21 assists, logged 11 steals in her time at Eastern Shore
Prior to joining the Maryland Eastern Shore program, Blanks was a member of the successful Westridge Academy girls' basketball program. In 2018, Blanks was a part of a team that posted a perfect 31-0 record.
Blanks joins transfers Nycerra Minnis (Riverdale, Md.), Taylor Wilkins (New Orleans, La.) along with freshmen Jada Brigman (Charlotte, N.C.) and Millie Brown (Nashville, Tenn.) as the newest group of Bulldogs that will join the program for the 2022-23 season.
