HIGH POINT, N.C.  – The UNC Asheville track & field teams closed out the VertKlasse Meeting on Saturday with several standout performances. Asheville saw three outdoor school records, multiple personal and season-best marks set on the day.Â
Highlighting the day for the Bulldogs were the three outdoor school records that were broken. Leading the charge was Claudia Prieto. Prieto finished first in the long jump with a leap of 6.09-meters. That leap by Prieto topped her own school record that she set at last season's Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships (6.01-meters).
The other two records that fell on Saturday came via Jalen Anderson. Anderson, who led the way for Asheville in three different events, finished fifth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 100-meter dash. Anderson's times in those respective events were 21.07 and 10.53. Like Prieto, Anderson was the previous record holder for each of those events.
Another Bulldog that had a stellar Saturday was Nick Roberts. Roberts finished as the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.39, which was a new season-best time for him. Additionally, Roberts set a new personal-best time in the 110-meter hurdles clocking in at 14.68.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on April 15-16 when they make the short trip to Cullowhee, N.C., to compete in the Catamount Classic.
