CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play, junior Ami Grace Dougah was named Big South Co-Player of the Week for the week of March 14-20.
Dougah continued her doubles dominance with fellow junior Rosie Dickson, earning victories of 6-2 and 6-1 against Western Carolina and UT Martin, pushing the duo's record to 11-1 on the year.
After a win due to the retirement of her opponent against Western Carolina, Ami cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory on the No. 1 singles court against UT Martin, moving to 10-2 on the year and 5-1 as the No. 1 player.
The award is Asheville's fifth Player of the Week of the year, a feat accomplished only three other times in Big South history by Coastal Carolina in 2011, Winthrop in 2012, and Liberty in 2015.
Dougah is also the fourth player in Big South history to receive Player of the Week three times in a season, joining Miki Bunea (Coastal Carolina, 2011), Andressa Garcia (Winthrop, 2014), and Libby Scott (Coastal Carolina, 2015, 2016).
Dougah and the Bulldogs enter the meat of conference play this week, traveling to Radford on Saturday, followed by a trip to Hampton the next day.
