Postseason W
The Bulldogs opened up the CBI in resounding fashion on Saturday, knocking off the No. 4-seeded Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 80-68. The victory was the first postseason win at UNC Asheville since the First Four win over Arkansas in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The postseason appearance was also the program's first since 2018.

A Closer Look
Three-point shooting was crucial in the victory, as the Bulldogs shot 52.2 percent from downtown (12-of-23) and 50.9 percent from the field. Outrebounding the Lumberjacks 36-27, UNC Asheville was led by Drew Pember's 17 points, eight rebounds and six blocks, while Tajion Jones scored 16 and Jamon Battle added 15. LJ Thorpe and Trent Stephney each had 11 points in the win, with Thorpe dishing out six assists.

Climbing the Charts
With six blocks against Stephen F. Austin, Pember now owns the fourth-most blocks in a season at UNC Asheville totaling 91 in his first season as a Bulldog and is seven away from DJ Cunningham's all-time record of 98 (2013-14). In addition to Jones and Coty Jude ranking second and third all-time in made 3-pointers, Jones' 80 treys this season are the seventh most in a single season at UNC Asheville (Andrew Rowsey No. 1 with 106).

Scouting the Bears
Northern Colorado nearly made the NCAA Tournament, falling in the Big Sky Championship to Montana State 87-66. The Bears rely heavily on the three, ranking eighth nationally in 3-point field goal attempts (938) and ninth in both 3-pointers per game (10.3) and 3-point field goal percentage (38.3) entering the tournament. Northern Colorado is also very efficient from the floor, ranking 31st in Division I in field goal percentage (47.3) through March 19. The Bears are prone to turning the ball over, as they are -2.1 in that category. Senior Daylen Kountz makes the offense go, scoring 21.2 points per game (10th, DI). Against Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Kountz scored 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the floor while Kur Jongkuch and Bodie Hume each had double-doubles.
