CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After pushing her singles and doubles record to a combined 14-0, Ami Grace Dougah was named Big South Player of the Week for the week of February 21-27.
It is just the third time in Big South history a team has earned three Players of the Week in a row, joining the likes of Winthrop who did so in 2012, and former member Coastal Carolina in 2011.
The award is Asheville's fourth Player of the Week out of six on the year and Dougah's second, earning her first just a month ago for the week of January 17-23.
Dougah continued her dominance in both doubles and singles, shutting out NCCU 6-0 in doubles paired with Rosie Dickson on the No. 1 court, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 1 flight in singles.
The junior from Lawrenceville, Georgia, has yet to let a singles opponent get closer than a 6-2 set all year, and has achieved three 6-0 victories in doubles.
Dougah and the Bulldogs go back to work this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Gardner Webb at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
