Triple Overtime Thriller
Saturday's regular-season finale was one for the record books, as Asheville outlasted Presbyterian (98-96) in the program's first-ever three-overtime game. In addition to three overtimes, it was just the second game in Kimmel Arena to reach two overtimes, and the most points scored in a league game since February 9, 2017, against Winthrop – the only other two-overtime game at Kimmel. The seniors stood up big in their last home game, combining for 75 points as graduate transfer Quay Kimble came up with the game-sealing steal in the 55th minute of play.

Bulldogs in the Big South
Asheville will look to add to its hardware, having claimed the Conference Championship five times (1989, 2003, 2011, 2012, 2016). All-time, the Bulldogs are 35-31 in the tournament, are 4-2 when facing Charleston Southern and have appeared in nine championship games over the years. Last season, when the tournament was still hosted by the highest seeds, Asheville earned a first-round bye and would host a quarterfinal in Kimmel for the first time since 2018. Coming off a 30-day layoff due to COVID, the Bulldogs were also without the services of head coach Mike Morrell and Evan Clayborne, falling to Longwood 77-61.

Series History
Asheville leads the all-time series 52-35, while head coach Mike Morrell is 6-2 in his matchups with the Buccaneers. The Bulldogs are 9-1 in their last 10 against Charleston Southern, having won six consecutive contests, outscoring the Bucs 167-125 in the two matchups this season.

Scouting the Buccaneers
Tahlik Chavez (11.8 ppg) is the main offensive threat for the Bucs, but in the two matchups this season it's been the supporting cast that has produced. In January's matchup, Deontay Buskey led Charleston Southern with 21 points while Chikh Faye nearly had a double-double with 19 and 9. Nationally, Chavez ranks in the top 40 in 3-point attempts, 3-pointers per game (2.9) and made 3-pointers (84), going just 2-of-8 against the Bulldogs despite connecting from downtown 49 times in league play (1st, Big South). As a unit, the Bucs attempted a league-high 129 treys in 16 games, shooting 31.5 percent from deep. The last time Charleston Southern and Asheville met in the conference tournament, the Bulldogs were victorious 71-66 (2018).
