Women's Tennis stays undefeated after first road match at NC Central

DURHAM, N.C. – After a postponement against NC A&T on Thursday and a two-hour delay against NC Central Friday, the Women's Tennis team stayed undefeated after registering a 6-1 win against the NCCU Eagles.
Doubles continue to be a strength for the Bulldogs, as the No. 1 pair of Ami Grace Dougah and Rosie Dickson produced their second 6-0 shutout of the year, followed by a 6-1 win on the No. 3 court by Lize Alet Morkel and Taylor Love.
The No. 2 pair of Ari Siegel and Linge Steenkamp were ahead 4-3 in their doubles match before the Bulldogs clinched the point on the No. 3 court.
For the second match in a row, four Bulldogs emerged victorious in straight-sets in singles play, comprising of Dougah on the No. 1 court (6-2, 6-0), Steenkamp on the No. 3 (6-3, 6-3), Beatrice Faureng on the No. 4 (6-3, 7-5), and Siegel in her first singles match of the year on the No. 6 (6-0, 6-4).
Morkel battled from behind at the No. 2 position and grinded out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory in her first three-set contest of the year.
Asheville will hit the road again on Monday for the make-up date against North Carolina A&T at 2:00 p.m., and return home on Wednesday with a matchup against Gardner Webb at 2:00 p.m.
