Track & Field finishes seventh at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track & field teams wrapped up the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. Both the men's and women's teams placed seventh in their respective standings at the end of the two-day Championship meet.
Asheville totaled three honors from the Big South on Friday. On the track, the foursome of Anthony Mason, Isaac Teasley, Denley Joseph, and Bryson Riddick finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.95. Additionally, the duo of Jack Choiniere and Claudia Prieto were honored for their work in the classroom by being named the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year during the indoor season.
In addition to being named the league's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Choiniere and Prieto also showed well in their events on Friday. Choiniere finished fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.64-meters, while Prieto placed sixth with a leap of 11.72-meters in the triple jump.
Asheville had a pair of top-10 finishers in the 400-meter dash in Teasley (49.11) and Riddick (49.23). Adam Hessler (5th – 8:35.85) and Clara Wincheski (10th – 10:18.56) also had stellar performances in the 3000-meter run.

Next up for Asheville will be the outdoor season. The Bulldogs' first outdoor meet is set for March 18-19 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
