Track & Field heads to Winston-Salem for the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track and field teams will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday and Friday. Action will get underway at 10 a.m. on Thursday and resume at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Last Time Out – In its final tune-up before the conference championships, the Bulldogs won 13 events at the Marshall Invitational on February 11-12. Furthermore, several Bulldogs logged new season-best performances at the two-day meet.
Shot Put Standouts – A highlight during the indoor season has been the performances by Solomon McDonald and Jack Choiniere in the shot put. The duo of McDonald (18.28m) and Choiniere (17.18m) rank second and third on the Big South's performance list in 2021-22. With their performances this season, McDonald and Choiniere rank first and second on the program's all-time indoor list for the event.
Senior standout – Senior Claudia Prieto has also posted a stellar indoor season heading into the championship meet. Prieto leads all Bulldogs in three different events in the 60-meter dash, Long Jump, and Triple Jump this season, and she also owns the school's indoor records in both the long and triple jumps.
Indoor Championship Rewind – This'll mark the Bulldogs' first conference indoor meet since 2020. In that edition of the championships, both the men's and women's teams finished fifth, which marked their best finish in recent memory. Additionally, Asheville racked up a total of eight All-Big South honors.
