Men’s Basketball continues road swing Tuesday at South Carolina State

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will continue its four-game road swing on Tuesday when it visits South Carolina State in another non-conference matchup. Tip-off between Asheville and South Carolina State is set for 7 p.m.
Last Time Out – Asheville dropped a 79-56 decision on the road last Saturday at Dayton. With Saturday's setback, the Bulldogs saw their record dip to 6-4 on the season.
Pember among the National Leaders – Drew Pember, who was named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List recently, continues to rank near the top of Division I basketball in multiple statistical categories. The Knoxville, Tennessee native leads the country in free throws made (69), fourth in free throw attempts (79), tenth in blocks (27), 12th in blocks per game (2.70), 15th in points per game (20.7), and 18th in points scored (207).
Tajion nears 3-point record – Tajion Jones continues his trek on becoming UNC Asheville's all-time 3-point leader. Jones needs to make just seven more 3-pointers to break the record of 297 held by Josh Kohn. Furthermore, Jones needs just 22 more points to move into sixth place on Asheville's scoring list surpassing Ahmad Thomas and his 1,626 points.
Stephney leading in Steals – Trent Stephney, who led the Big South in steals last season, currently paces the Conference in both steals (20) and steals per game (2.00). If Stephney can maintain the hold of the league lead through the end of the season, he'll be the first Big South player to lead the league in steals in back-to-back seasons since Radford's Javonte Green achieved the same feat in 2013 and 2014.
About South Carolina State – South Carolina State will bring a 1-10 record with it into Tuesday's matchup with Asheville. SCSU narrowly missed out on its second win of the season on Saturday as it fell to USC Upstate, 89-84, in overtime.
