Swimming & Diving readies for matchups with Davidson & Gardner-Webb

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team will return to action on Saturday when it competes in a double dual meet against Davidson and Gardner-Webb. The meet, which will be contested in Davidson, N.C., is scheduled to get underway at Noon on Saturday.
Last Time Out – Asheville improved to 2-0 on the season with a 190-72 win over Campbell back on October 22. The Bulldogs have now won 14 straight dual meets dating back to October 2020. Furthermore, Asheville is 18-1-1 over its last 20 dual contests.
Freshman finding Success – Freshman Anna Marcotti played a key role in Asheville's 190-72 win over Campbell. Marcotti finished first or second in all four races that she competed in on Saturday. She finished first in both the 200 free (1:54.59) and in the 500 free (5:10.10). Marcotti finished as the runner-up in 100 free (52.48) but her time ranked ninth on the all-time performer list in program history. Marcotti also helped Asheville's 200 free relay team finish first as well with a time of 1:34.88. Marcotti swam the second leg of the relay with a time of 24.19.
First Road Trip – The Bulldogs will make their first road trip of the season on Saturday. Some of Asheville's success in recent years have come away from its home pool as it has not dropped a road or neutral site meet since October 2019 at Liberty.
About the Opponents – Davidson is coming into this weekend's matchups with UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb with a 1-3 record. The Wildcats did pick up a 152-110 win over Old Dominion last Saturday. Saturday will mark the first home meet of the season for Davidson as well.
The Runnin' Bulldogs, meanwhile, have earned victories this fall against VMI (207-45), Bellarmine (195.5-114.5), and Southern Indiana (254-59).
Series Rewind vs. the Opponents – The Bulldogs are 4-5 all-time against Gardner-Webb and 0-4 vs. Davidson. Asheville, however, has won its last four meets against the Runnin' Bulldogs including a 189-73 victory last October. Saturday will mark the first meeting between Asheville and Davidson since 2019.
