Men’s Basketball readies for a road test at North Carolina Central on Tuesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday when it visits North Carolina Central in non-conference action. Tip-off between the Bulldogs and Eagles is set for 7 p.m.

Last Time Out - Asheville picked up a 73-61 win over Western Carolina on Saturday at Kimmel Arena. With the win, the Bulldogs are now 4-2 on the season.
Pember continues to produce – Drew Pember has continued to put up stellar numbers that rank near the top of college basketball. Following a 28-point effort Saturday vs. Western Carolina, Pember ranks sixth nationally averaging 22.7 points per game. Pember, who is 18th in the country in blocked shots with 16, also leads all Big South players with five 20-plus point performances so far in 2022-23.
Jones jumps to #7 on the scoring list – With 12 points on Saturday, Tajion Jones has now scored 1,556 points during his tenure as a Bulldog. His 1,556 points rank seventh all-time in history of Bulldog men's basketball and ranks fourth in the Division I era trailing only Matt Dickey (1,778), JP Primm (1,689), and Ahmad Thomas (1,626).
Boost from Battle – A definite key in Asheville's victory over Western Carolina was the play of Jamon Battle. Battle matched a career-high with 19 points on a 7-for-10 effort from the field to go along with nine rebounds. On the season, Battle is averaging 10.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for Asheville.
Defend the Three – When Asheville takes the court on Tuesday it will rank 13th nationally in 3-point field percentage defense. The Bulldogs have held opposing teams to 25.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc through the season's first six games.
About North Carolina Central – After starting the season 0-3, the Eagles have reeled off three straight wins. NCCU, which has defeated Mid-Atlantic Christian (109-50), Montreat (86-70), and Gardner-Webb (58-53) during this stretch, is led by Justin Wright. Wright is averaging 17.2 points per game this season and is shooting 63.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Series Rewind vs. the Eagles – Asheville and North Carolina Central have met a total of three times over the years but just once with both programs being at the Division I level. In that lone matchup, the Bulldogs came away with the 82-66 win over the Eagles at Kimmel Arena in 2021.
