2023 SCHEDULE

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history, the UNC Asheville baseball team released its 2023 schedule on Thursday. The 53-game slate for the Bulldogs features matchups against Boston College and UMass, regional rivals Western Carolina, East Tennessee State, Wofford as well as a full Big South slate.

"I feel we have a very challenging non-conference schedule this spring," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Scott Friedholm. "But we look forward to that challenge and hope it prepares us for our Big South weekends.  The opportunity to play teams from ten different conferences, including the Big South (SEC, ACC, Atlantic Sun, Conference USA, Sun Belt, Southern, Atlantic 10, Northeast Conference, and MAAC) will be a great experience for our players.  I hope our team is up for the challenge."

The Bulldogs will open the season with a three-game set against Wagner on February 17-19 at Greenwood Field. After the season opening series, Asheville will play five straight road games at Wofford (Feb. 21), Eastern Kentucky (Feb. 24-26), and Charlotte (Feb. 28).

Upon returning to Greenwood Field, the Bulldogs will play eight straight home games to open the month of March. Asheville will host Iona for four games on March 3-5 before welcoming in Boston College (March 8) and UMass for three games on March 10-12.

Asheville will face off against Division I newcomer Queens on March 14 in Charlotte before kicking off Big South play with a three-game weekend set at Charleston Southern on March 17-19.

The month of March will wrap up for the Bulldogs with home games against ETSU (March 21) and a conference series against Longwood (March 24-26). A midweek game at Tennessee on March 28 will be followed up with three games against Presbyterian (March 31-April 2) and Appalachian State (April 4) at Greenwood Field as the calendar turns to April.

Most of the Bulldogs' final month of the season will occur at home. Mixed in with road games at Gardner-Webb (April 6-8), Appalachian State (April 18), Winthrop (April 21-23), Western Carolina (May 3), ETSU (May 9), and High Point (May 18-20), the Bulldogs will host WCU (April 11), USC Upstate (April 14-16), Wofford (April 25), Campbell (May 5-7), Radford (May 12-14), and Queens (May 16).

The top four teams in the Big South standings at the conclusion of the regular season will advance to the Big South Baseball Tournament on May 25-27. More details about the 2023 Big South Baseball Tournament will be released at a later date.
