ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Following a thrilling 98-95 double overtime win on Monday at UCF, the UNC Asheville men's basketball team will open its regular season home schedule on Saturday when it hosts Brevard at Kimmel Arena. Tip-off between the Bulldogs and Tornados is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN+.

1-0 Start – As mentioned earlier, the Bulldogs are 1-0 after defeating UCF on Monday night in their season opener. It marks the first time Asheville has started a season 1-0 since 2018.
40 Points from Pember – A key reason in Asheville's season opening win was the play of senior Drew Pember. Pember scored 40 points on a 12-for-21 effort from the field, 4-for-8 from 3-point range, and 12-for-13 from the free throw line to go with nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. It is the second time that Preseason Big South Player of the Year has scored 40 or more points in a game as a Bulldog with the first occurring last season at Radford when he finished with 41 points.
Jones moves up the All-Time Scoring List – With his 20-point effort against UCF, Tajion Jones now ranks 10th all-time on UNC Asheville's scoring list with 1,486 points. Furthermore, by scoring 10 more points, Jones will rank fifth on the program's Division I scoring list passing former Bulldog great Andre Smith who scored 1,495 points during his time in Asheville.
Trying for 2-0 – As mentioned earlier, the last time Asheville began a season 1-0 was back in 2018-19. If the Bulldogs defeat Brevard on Saturday, they will improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2008.
About Brevard – Brevard will bring a 0-1 record with it to Asheville on Saturday. The Tornados dropped a close game to Bob Jones, 86-81, on Thursday night in their season opener. BC did have a trio of players finish in double figures on Thursday with LB Boyette leading the charge with a 25-point effort.
Series Rewind vs. Tornados – Asheville is 9-0 all-time against the Tornados with the first meeting occurring in 2002. Four of the Bulldogs' nine wins against Brevard have been at Kimmel Arena, including a 101-44 victory last season.
