11.10.2022 | Cross Country
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville cross country teams will travel to Louisville, Kentucky to compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday. The women's 6K race will kick things off at 11 a.m. with the men's 10k to follow at Noon.
Last Time Out – Asheville's last competition was back on October 29 when it competed at the Big South Cross Country Championships. The men's team placed third (83 points), while the women's team finished seventh (174 points) at the event.
Kudos to All-Big South Honorees – A few Bulldogs earned All-Big South honors recently due to their performances both athletically and academically. The tandem of Adam Hessler (6th – 24:50.8) and John Ciprich (12th – 25:29.6) landed All-Conference honors thanks to finishing among the top 14 runners at the conference championships. Furthermore, Dylan Major from the men's team and Madeline Wittschen from the women's team earned All-Academic team honors for their work in the classroom.
Flashback to 2021 Regionals – At the 2021 NCAA Southeast Regionals, Asheville showed well. Several runners put together new personal-best times in those races and nearly just as many logged times that rank among the top 25 in the history of the program.
