Hessler breaks 10K record to lead Cross Country at Southeast Regional Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior Adam Hessler broke the program's record for a 10K race with a time of 30:59.4 to lead the UNC Asheville cross country teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday in Louisville, Kentucky.
As a team, the Bulldogs men's team outpaced programs like Clemson and ECU along with fellow Big South schools USC Upstate, Radford, Winthrop, and Longwood on Friday. Overall, Asheville finished 18th among the 32-team field.
Fellow Bulldogs John Ciprich (121st – 32:29.3), Daniel Hopkins (130th – 32:45.4), Jackson Core (132nd – 32:48.6), Yates Hockaday (137th – 32:54.3), and Brock Newsome (150th – 33:23.3) all logged times that rank among the top 25 10K times in program history as well.
A trio of runners from Asheville's women's team also ran Friday in Louisville. Emma Kennett posted the fastest time from Asheville clocking in at 24:03.9. Alyx Beausoleil (216th – 25:23.9) and Amanda Orban (226th – 26:30.4) also competed on the day. Â
