Women’s Soccer picks up dominant win at Hampton

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Women's Soccer team visited Hampton on Saturday night, scoring four goals in the first half to ultimately blank the Pirates 4-0.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Pirates early, scoring three goals in the first eight minutes, with Alice Walker scoring two goals and dished out an assist. Madison Carter and freshman Taylor Gardner would each add a score before the break, as Asheville evens up its Big South record with the win (1-1), notching its second win of the season and moving to 2-7-1. Hampton, meanwhile, drops to 1-4-1 and 0-2 in conference play.
"It was a really good team performance tonight," said head coach Andy McNab. "Especially in the first half. We were technical in front of goal, which is what we have been missing in games this year."

How it Happened
It took less than three minutes for the Bulldogs to get on the board, as Walker ripped a low liner to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Walker played a ball forward to Carter who finished to double up the lead.
In the 8th, it was Kaiya Boyd who fed Walker for her second goal of the half as Asheville took full control. Before the half winded down, Lizzie Ball found Gardner who connected for the fourth goal of the half.
The four goals would prove to be plenty, as the Bulldogs threatened in the second but neither team would score, taking the contest 4-0. The win is the second shutout victory of the season for O'Malley, who collected four saves in the process.
What's Next
The Bulldogs return home Wednesday, hosting USC Upstate at 6:00 p.m.
