Women’s Tennis completes day one of Fall season

ELON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team began its fall 2021 season on Friday, capping off day one of the Elon Invitational.
Taylor Love and Lize Alet Morkel led the day off with an 8-6 victory in doubles action while Linge Steenkamp and Ari Siegel took care of business with the same score in their doubles match.
Morkel fared well in singles action, topping Meghana Komarraju 6-3, 6-2 and advancing to the next round with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Martina Muzzolon. Beatrice Faureng opened up her sophomore season in strong fashion, winning her first singles match 6-2, 6-1 before edging out Sarah Allen 6-4, 6-3.
Kendall Byers had a successful first outing of the Fall, as the Marvin, North Carolina, native outlasted Corinne Farid in three sets, taking the last two sets 6-3, 6-4. Byers battled in her next singles match, but fell 5-7, 5-7.
