Men’s soccer hosts Gardner-Webb on Sunday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team welcomes Gardner-Webb to town on Sunday afternoon, capping off the regular season with kickoff scheduled for approximately 2:30 (30 minutes following the women's soccer game) p.m.  

A look at the Bulldogs
Asheville enters Sunday's match sporting a 2-4-1 overall record (all Big South games) after falling at nationally-ranked High Point on Thursday. The Bulldogs would draw first blood against High Point, but the Panthers responded with four unanswered to take the match. Miles Peay became the seventh Bulldog to score, with Taylor Durall leading the team with three goals this season.

Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs
Gardner-Webb sits at 5-5 overall this season and are 3-4 against Big South competition. The Runnin' Bulldogs have lost their last two contests however, falling to USC Upstate 2-1 in overtime and to Campbell 1-0 in regulation. Eight different players have scored for Gardner-Webb with Abel Gebrekiros scoring four goals while Ryan Madondo and Owen Zaldivar each burying three. Three different goalkeepers have seen time in net, with Daniel Husa starting four of five games played and totaled 11 saves while Benjamin Schade has collected 13 saves in two games.

Series History
Since 2004, UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb have met 17 times, with the Runnin' Bulldogs holding a 12-4-1 edge. Gardner-Webb has won three straight contests, with Asheville's last win coming on October 5, 2016 when they defeated the Runnin' Bulldogs 1-0.

Attendance Policy
Face coverings are required, and social distancing protocols will be in place, limiting seating capacity to Asheville fans that are on the designated pass list. Attendees will be allowed to bring tailgate chairs and game operations staff will direct fans to sit in a socially distant manner. No visiting fans will be admitted.
