Golf finishes second round of Big South Championship

NINETY SIX, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team finished its second day of play at the 2021 Big South Championship as Vencia Zaia continues to climb the individual leaderboard, sitting in a tie for seventh place.
The tournament, which is held at The Patriot at Grand Harbor, is led by Campbell (-1) as Asheville sits in eighth place.
After opening up with a 3-over-par 75 on Wednesday, Zaia posted her lowest collegiate round on Thursday, shooting a 1-under-par 71 with birdies on holes No. 6, No. 9 and No. 16.
Madyson Gold matched her round-one performance, posting a second round 3-over-par 75 with a trio of birdies to sit tied for 16th overall. Amber Capote rebounded to shoot three strokes lower in her second round, totaling a 7-over-par 79, while Baylee Evans was two strokes better on Thursday, birdieing hole No. 6.
