Women's golf caps off day one of Big South Tournament

NINETY SIX, S.C. - The UNC Asheville women's golf team opened up play in the 2021 Big South Championship on Wednesday with Madyson Gold and Venevia Zaia sitting T-15 while the team heads into Thursday in eighth place.Â
In the stroke-play format, Gold registered two birdies on the day to finish with a 3-over-par 75. Zaia had an up-and-down first round, shooting 2-over par on the front nine before a slightly better 1-over-par in the second.Â
Amber Capote and Baylee Evans had matching rounds, posting scores of 82 and are currently T-41.
The tournament resumes Thursday at 8:00 a.m., with the Bulldogs teeing off between 8:40 and 9:12 a.m.
