Kwiatkowski, Dueñas earn Big South Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced its women's soccer postseason honors and awards on Tuesday morning, with UNC Asheville's Grace Kwiatkowski being named All-Big South Honorable Mention, and Emily Dueñas earning All-Academic recognition.
A mainstay on the defensive line during her career, Kwiatkowski appeared in all nine games this season for the Bulldogs, starting eight of them and logging over 800 minutes played. A native of Davidson, North Carolina, Kwiatkowski added a shot while totaling 90 or more minutes in seven games this season, helping the Bulldogs go 2-2 in their last four games this year. A two-year captain for the Bulldogs, Kwiatkoswki has logged over 4,300 minutes, scored one goal and was named to the Big South All-Academic Team as a junior.
A fellow senior, Dueñas started eight games while appearing in all nine for the Bulldogs this year. Spending time at midfield, Dueñas totaled six shots, with five being on frame and capped off her career with a key goal in a 4-2 victory over Gardner-Webb to end the season. The Torrance, California, native logged over 577 minutes for her career while totaling more than 2900 for her career. Dueñas' other goal came in 2018 when she buried a game-winner against The Citadel. Finishing her career with 32 shots and 15 on frame, Dueñas is majoring in political science with a minor in economics. Dueñas is also working on publishing her undergraduate thesis which she presented last semester and has interned with California State Senator Ben Allen.
