03.04.2021 | Cross Country
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville cross country teams will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. on Friday to compete in the Big South Cross Country Championships. The women's 5k will kick things off at 2 p.m., with the men's 8k race to follow at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out – The last time the Bulldog cross country squads were in action was back on February 12 at Radford. Freshman Adam Hessler won the men's race with a time of 25:07.01 to lead the Bulldogs. Overall, both the men's and women's teams placed second among the three teams that competed on that day.
Championships Past – Asheville has seen quite a bit of success at the league's showcase cross country event over the years. The Bulldogs have won four league titles, had three runners be named Big South Freshman of the Year, and several more earn All-Big South honors.
Sustaining Streak of Success – Both the men's and women's teams will look to maintain their current streak of success in the conference's championships races. The women's team has finished fifth or better in seven of the past eight years, while the men's squad will aim to place fourth or higher for the fourth consecutive season.
