03.25.2021 | Track and Field
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track & field teams will resume their outdoor season this weekend when they compete at the Montreat Invitational. The first event of the two-day Invitational is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. Friday.
Last Time Out – The last time the Bulldogs competed in a meet was back on March 13 at Winthrop. On the day, Asheville won 13 events and broke two outdoor school records.
More Awards in Asheville – Following the meet at Winthrop, the Bulldogs had some student-athletes receive recognition for their performances. Claudia Prieto earned her second Big South Female Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week of the season. On the same day, Asheville's 4x100-meter relay team of Akin Williams, Jalen Anderson, Alex Williams, and Isaac Teasley were named the league's Track Athletes of the Week.
Note from Coach - We are looking forward to seeing what we can do with another two weeks of training behind us," said Head Coach Joel Williams. "We are also getting a few people back from injury this weekend."
About the Montreat Invitational – As mentioned earlier, the Montreat Invitational will run throughout the day on both Friday and Saturday. Unlike Asheville's previous two meets, this one will have over 30 teams competing and nearly 1,000 athletes competing.
How to Follow - Live results and video will be available each day, and a full schedule of this weekend's events can be found HERE.
