Women’s golf cards best round-one team score at Oak Point

Kiawah Island Classic Continues Monday
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team got off to a tremendous start to the 2021 Kiawah Island Classic on Sunday afternoon, carding the best overall team score for all teams that competed on the Oak Point Golf Club Course.
The tournament, which is the largest one in the country, splits the 41 teams between the Cougar Point and Oak Point courses.
The Bulldogs, who rolled out another all-freshmen lineup, carded a 16-over-par 304 on Sunday, sitting in a tie for ninth place overall. Phoebe Carles led the way with a 3-over-par 75 birdieing holes No. 4, No. 10 and No. 11. Madyson Gold and Amber Capote each fired 4-over-par 76's, while Anna McDonald was just one stroke behind with a 77. Hailey Pendleton finished six over par on Sunday, with an impressive eagle on hole No. 4.
First Round Results
