Volleyball Travels to Gardner-Webb This Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team will be back in action this weekend as it travels to Gardner-Webb for a pair of matches on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's match is set to begin at noon, while Sunday's is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – Asheville's last match came on February 18 as it fell to High Point in three sets. With the loss, the Bulldogs moved to 0-4 in the 2021 spring season.
Peyton Pacing the Offense – Junior Peyton McClinton was the offensive leader for the Bulldogs in the two matches against High Point. The Louisville, Kentucky native totaled 18 kills in the two matches, including a career-high 10 in the second match. Overall, McClinton paces Asheville with 25 kills and is tied for the team lead in points scored this season with 27.
First Road Test – This weekend will be the first road matches of the season for Asheville. Originally, the Bulldogs were supposed to open the season at Charleston Southern on Feb. 4-5 but those matches were postponed. A player to watch for Asheville is senior Cecilia Stack as she attacked at a .347 clip with 57 kills last season in matches away from home.
About Gardner-Webb – Gardner-Webb has a 2-4 record through the first month of the season. The Runnin' Bulldogs have won a pair of five-set thrillers against Presbyterian and at USC Upstate to account for their two victories. Kylee Garrison is a player to watch for GWU has she leads the team with 61 kills in their six matches.
