Swimming & Diving Readies for the CCSA Championships

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville swimming and diving team will compete at the 2021 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this week. The Championships are scheduled to run Monday through Wednesday from the Liberty Natatorium in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Last Time Out – Asheville came away with a 154-72 victory over Converse on January 23. The Bulldogs concluded the dual meet season sporting a 4-1-1 record overall, including a 2-1-1 against fellow CCSA programs.
About the Championships – On each of the three days, events will begin 10 a.m. with the prelims and action will conclude with the finals of those events at 6 p.m. For the full schedule of events, click HERE.
Championship Flashback – In the 2020 CCSA Championships, the Bulldogs posted their highest finish in program history as they finished fourth. Asheville also scored its most points in program history finishing the four-day meet with 782 points. Furthermore, three school and five freshman records were set during that meet that still stand today.
Note from Coach - "For such a unique year, we are ecstatic to have the opportunity to compete at Conference Championships this week," said Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "No one knew if we'd ever reach this penultimate expectation, but I am extremely proud of our entire team for the way they have conducted themselves, followed all necessary protocols and "rolled with" the ever-changing landscape this year."
