Women's Swimming and Diving Takes Fifth at ASUN Championships

ORLANDO, Fla. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving took fifth at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships on Saturday (Feb. 21), wrapping up the 2026 season.

Eleanor Pichetto paced the divers with an eighth-place finish in the platform event with a score of 164.15, while Leigha Travis (145.10) and Haley Fein (141.60) finished 15^th and 16^th respectively. Roberta Marchesi (17:48.77), Celine Petruschke (17:51.49) and Kathryn Walters (17:51.58) finished 13^th through 15^th respectively in the 1650 free, with Marchesi logging a lifetime-best time and Petruschke a season-best mark. Rose Sciaudone also finished 19^th in the mile in 18:00.47. Marcotti finished 12^th in the 100 free in 50.92, while Amelia Presley finished 21^st in the 200 back in 2:06.67. Gracelyn Cox took eighth in the 200 breast in 2:20.55, while Anna Kate Halligan also finished 14^th in 2:22.41. Miriam Wheatley finished 16^th in 2:23.72, while Beatrice Cocconcelli also finished 18^th in a season-best 2:19.93. The 400 free relay quartet of Gracie Hunt, Cocconcelli, Gianna Riffel and Marcotti finished sixth in 3:25.65, with Hunt swimming a lifetime-best split of 52.26.

Asheville totaled lifetime-best times and four season-best times, along with two A finalists, five B finalists and two C finalists on the day. Cox punched her ticket to the A final of the 200 breast in a season-best 2:19.96, while Pichetto posted a score of 190.25 in the platform event to earn a spot in the A final. Fein (137.90) and Travis (136.35) each punched their ticket to the B final in the platform event. Marcotti earned a spot in the B final of the 100 free in a season-best 50.90, while Wheatley (2:20.73) and Halligan each also 2:27.07) qualified for the B final in the 200 breast. Presley qualified for her first career conference final in the 200 back, earning a spot in the C final in a lifetime-best 2:05.73. Cocconcelli also earned a spot in the 200 breast C final in 2:23.30.

"I am SOOOOO proud of this team!" said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "They fought for every point on the boards and off the blocks. We achieved so many personal and seasonal bests throughout the week and entire season. We can leave Florida knowing we left all we had in the pool!"

This concludes the 2025-26 Women's Swimming and Diving season.
