Gold records career low round at Terrier Intercollegiate

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team opened up play at the 2021 Terrier Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford College on Monday, with Madyson Gold recording her career-low round to finish the day tied for fifth place.

The sophomore from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, played 1-over-par golf on the front nine of round one, but had a huge back nine, shooting 3-under-par with birdies on No. 11, 15, 17 and 18. In round two at the Carolina Country Club, Gold was even-par 36 on the front nine, with birdies on No. 1 and No. 9, shooting 2-over-par on the back.

Phoebe Carles posted a pair of 77 rounds, while Hailey Pendleton opened up with a 76 before a round-two 80. Venecia Zaia started with a round-one 80, but ended with a round two 84. As a team, UNC Asheville opened with a 300, posting a 313 in the light-drizzling afternoon.
