Women’s soccer hosts Longwood for Senior Day Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team returns home for its penultimate match of the regular season on Saturday, hosting Longwood at 5:00 p.m.
In the Hunt
Asheville is coming off a strong 4-1 victory at Winthrop earlier this week in which it got four goals from four different players. Wednesday's over the Eagles helped keep the chase for the Big South Tournament alive for the Bulldogs. Entering Saturday, Asheville sits three points back of current fourth-place Charleston Southern (15), and just one point back of Radford and Winthrop (13), now owning the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Eagles – who have no remaining conference games.
Senior Day
Saturday will mark senior day for the Bulldogs. UNC Asheville women's soccer will honor six players for their dedication to the program over the years: Abby Jacobs, Gillian Oyos, Courtney O'Malley, Alice Walker, Grace Sloan and Lilly Bell.
Scouting the Lancers
Longwood enters the weekend with a 7-6-4 overall and has posted a 6-1-2 record in the conference, currently sitting as the No. 2 seed in the Big South. The lone loss for the Lancers came at the hands of current No. 3 seed High Point on Wednesday night (5-2). Six different players have found the back of the net this year for Longwood, with Danielle Toone and Madison Lockamy each burying four shots. Jordan Horacek has gotten the majority of the minutes in net, picking up 52 saves while conceding 14 goals.
Series History
Longwood has had the recent edge over the Bulldogs, going 9-0-1 in their last 10. Asheville has been knocking on victory's door however, tying in 2019 and falling by just one goal the last two seasons.
