Men’s soccer edged out in extra time 1-0

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Men's Soccer team visited Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night, battling into extra time before the Runnin' Bulldogs were able to take the contest 1-0.
With the loss, Asheville drops to 0-4 in the conference while Gardner-Webb improves to an even 2-2.
"Our guys played hard, and it's tough to drop another one in extra time," said head coach Giordano. "We look forward to the opportunity back at home this Saturday."

How it Happened
Behan tried to get the Bulldogs on the board early, firing two shots in the first 15 minutes of the contest. The teams traded corners before Gardner-Webb settled in, but neither could find the back of the next after 45 minutes. 
The second started much like the first, with Behan registering a pair of chances early. In the 69th minute, Gardner-Webb looked primed to score as they were awarded a penalty kick, but Musial was there to come up with a huge save to keep the game scoreless as the teams would head to extra time.
Musial collected another save early in overtime, but the Runnin' Bulldogs were able to get a shot by and take the game 1-0.
What's Next
The Bulldogs return to Greenwood Saturday, hosting Presbyterian for Senior Day and the Be the Match game at 6:00 p.m.
