Cross Country ready for Live in Lou Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Cross Country will head to Louisville on Saturday, October 2nd, with a trip to the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic, hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission. The men will start first at 9:30 a.m., followed by the women who begin at 10:15 a.m.
The race is one of the elite cross country tournaments in the country, with 35 teams competing for the men, and 42 teams competing for the women.
"The Louisville Classic is one of the best meets in the country, so I am excited to see how our men's and women's teams respond to the increased competition," Head Coach Adam Puett said. "We have been looking forward to this meet all season and it will be fun to see the athletes get to enjoy all of the hard work they have been putting in for the last eight weeks."
Last Time Out: Live in Lou Classic
UNC Asheville last competed in the Live in Lou Classic in the 2019 campaign, with the men finishing 30th out of 41 teams, and the women finishing 38th. Walker Lezotte, Tom German, and John Ciprich all competed in the race on the men's side, led by Ciprich who clocked a time of 25:40.3. On the women's side Corey McVay, Ashley Tysiac, Alyx Evans, India Appleton, and Madeline Nichols all ran for the Bulldogs, with Nichols posting a time of 18:41.5. Ciprich's time earned him a finish at 188th, while Nichols' pace put her at 134th, with over 340 athletes competing in both the men's and women's races.
Looking Ahead
The Bulldogs will compete in the USC Upstate Invitational for the first time since the 2014 season on Saturday, October 16 in Spartanburg, S.C.
