CHARLOTTE – UNC Asheville women's golf senior Adelyn Deery has been named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team, the league announced Monday.

A native of Lancaster, Pa., Deery currently holds a 3.724 grade-point average pursuing an undergraduate degree in management and is set to graduate in May as part of the first graduating class in the golf program's history.

Deery finished the abbreviated 2019-20 season as the Bulldogs' lowest scorer with a stroke average of 79.28 per round. She had two Top 25 finishes in stroke play, placing 21st in the season-opening Morehead State Greenbrier Invitational. She tied for 23rd at the Northern Kentucky Fall Classic in October.

She posted nine sub-80 rounds on the season, including a team-best 73 during the first round of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic during the first weekend of March.

Deery's best performance of the season, though, came during the Blue Hose Match Play, Oct. 21-22, where she won all three of her matches.

In her junior season, Deery recorded five Top 30 finishes, including two Top 10 results. She placed third at the MSU Greenbrier Invitational.

As a sophomore, she was one of two golfers to record the first sub-par round in the program's history. She had four individual Top 25 finishes in her second season on campus.

Deery joins her teammate and fellow senior Linna Brooks – a two-time selection – as the program's all-time honorees on the All-Academic Team.
