Bulldogs Wrap Up Day Two at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – UNC Asheville's women's golf team wrapped up the second day of competition at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, shooting a combined 331, Monday, to finish the day in 44th at the 53-team competition.

The Bulldogs began the day in a tie for 38th with Presbyterian. They played the par-72 Osprey Point Golf Club in the second round of action.

Senior Linna Brooks finished as the low scorer for the Bulldogs, carding a 7-over 79 – the only sub-80 round for the team. After two days of play, Brooks is currently tied for 181st on the individual leaderboard that features more than 260 competitors.

Senior Kellen Alsip tied for the team lead with two birdies on the day, opening her round with a three on the par-4 fifth hole. She also scored a birdie on the par-5 12th hole. She finished the day at plus-8, and is plu-15 for the tournament, putting her in a tie for 159th among individuals, which leads the Bulldogs.

Senior Adelyn Deery also had two birdies, coming on the par-4 13th hole and par-5 second, but after an opening round 73, she struggled to find the same groove. Deery is currently tied with her teammate Brooks at 181st in the individual leaderboard.
