Bulldogs Complete First Tournament of the Spring

GREENSBORO, Ga. – UNC Asheville's women's golf team wrapped up play in its first tournament of the spring, finishing in 14th place at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational.
The three-day event, hosted by Mercer at The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee, featured some of the most talented women's golf teams in the country, including tournament champion Auburn.
In the third round, the Bulldogs shaved 11 strokes off of their collective score from the second round, finishing with a 323. They completed the tournament with a combined score of 998, 29 strokes behind 13th-place Albany.
Senior Adelyn Deery had her best day of the tournament, posting a third-round score of 75, finishing the day with 15 pars. She entered Sunday tied for 59th in the individual leaderboard, but moved into a tie for 51st with a score of 239 over three days of competition.
Senior Kellen Alsip also had her best performance on Sunday, carding a 5-over 77. She led the Bulldogs with two birdies on the day, scoring a three on the par-4 first hole. She then came back with a two on the par-3 seventh hole. Alsip had a three-round score of 253, tied for 72nd in the field.
Senior Linna Brooks came through as the Bulldogs' second-lowest finisher in the tournament, scoring a 249 over three days of competition to finish in a tie for 66th among individuals.
The Bulldogs will head to Kiawah Island next weekend for the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston, March 1-3.
